1. Specific Heat Capacity (Method of Mixtures)
Formula: m₁c₁(T₁ - Tₘ) = m₂c₂(Tₘ - T₂)
- Use calorimeter, hot solid, and cold water.
- Measure temperature change before and after mixing.
- Calculate unknown specific heat capacity.
2. Latent Heat of Fusion
Formula: Q = mL
- Use ice and warm water in calorimeter.
- Track temperature change and melting time.
- Calculate latent heat of fusion of ice.
3. Expansion of Solids and Liquids
Formula: ΔL = αLΔT, ΔV = αVΔT
- Heat metal rod or liquid in capillary tube.
- Record initial and final lengths or volume.
- Calculate coefficient of linear or volumetric expansion.
